Worldly ways of living are constantly thrown before our eyes. Whether it be on the internet, television, or even in our workplaces and schools, women especially are being told of who they should be and how they should act. God’s truth is often in the background. Even for the women who have heard God’s truth, it is a constant battle to stand firm against the ways of the world and the temptations to be somebody other than who God has called us to be.
However, when women are able to stand side by side in the battle, their strength is much greater. Our SGA Storyteller shares a testimony of what she calls “wise women’s ministry.”
This not only includes times for fellowship and truth from God’s Word, but also encouragement to live a life honoring to God.
“I believe that such events and messages help women in difficult situations understand that they can find their worth in God, and that He can use them in His plans. On the other hand, for women consumed with themselves, it can open their hearts to the truth that a life with true purpose is not a temporary one, but an eternal one, dedicated to the glory of Christ.”
Please pray for the many SGA-supported churches, that they will have strong and wise ministries to the women they serve and that the women of their churches will stand firm in their faith and godliness.
“An example of wise women’s ministry…
Last month, I wrote to you about the importance of wise ministry among women who, in today’s Western world, are often completely confused about who they are, what their value is, and what God’s plan for their lives looks like—a plan that is undoubtedly the best! Today, I want to share an example of such ministry with you.
In November, our [church] in Bydgoszcz hosted a women’s gathering. The purpose of the event was not only to foster fellowship among the sisters in our local church, but also to engage in the mission of evangelizing the friends and neighbors we had invited, who have not yet known Christ.
Our guest speaker was a missionary from the Gdansk Regional Baptist Association, led by Christopher Osiecki, a long-time missionary of SGA in Poland. One seminar for 60 participants was titled “A Diamond in the Mud–The Story of Tamar.” She delivered a faithful exposition of the story of Tamar, a woman from the Old Testament who, despite being from a pagan nation and facing a seemingly hopeless life situation, was elevated to great honor and included in Christ’s genealogy. God used a woman with a very difficult past for His great purposes. Isn’t that amazing?
The workshop was deeply inspiring and uplifting. We also had the opportunity to share our personal experiences and the privilege of praying for one another. Many women were encouraged and moved. The event concluded with a pleasant reception and warm conversations. We are committed to continuing to pray for one another, but above all, for those among us who heard the Gospel for the first time, that God’s power and His Word would work in their hearts.
I believe that such events and messages help women in difficult situations understand that they can find their worth in God, and that He can use them in His plans. On the other hand, for women consumed with themselves, it can open their hearts to the truth that a life with true purpose is not a temporary one, but an eternal one, dedicated to the glory of Christ. Many women need to hear this today.”
