Editor’s Note: An SGA-supported pastor in Russia provides the following ministry report.

SGA-supported churches see annual summer camp outreaches result in more children coming to Christ than any other ministry. And thanks to the support of generous friends like you, SGA is able to support the camp ministry of Russian churches to villages in Mongolia.

This past summer, believers from Novosibirsk and from the Altai region—including youth group members—travelled to introduce many children from unsaved families to Jesus. As you’ll read in the ministry report below from an SGA-supported pastor, some of these girls and boys had never heard of Jesus Christ. Please pray for these precious ones and praise God with us for the young lives forever changed by the Gospel. Through one child, an entire struggling family can be transformed for the Lord.

2024 Ministry Report

Greetings! It is our joy to share about the camp ministry carried by our church, as follows.

1) Trip of the church youth to the Altai Mountains.

Some 20 young people and 10 leaders participated in this trip. It was an outing dedicated to strengthen the unity of our youth. On this trip, we talked a lot and spent a quality time together, discussing some important topics relevant to the youth, as follows,

  • How to trust God?
  • What is trust?
  • How to have an intimate relationship with God?

A visit to the place of the missionary Justus W. became a special event for us all. Justus is a missionary who lives in the outback of Altai, owning a farm. He also has a big heart for people who do not know Jesus yet. He inspired our youth to become missionaries, and to have a deep personal relationship with God. Many were urged to seriously think about their lives.

Thank God for He protected us throughout the entire trip.  Yet on the way back, we had some incidents with our three cars. One had an engine broken down, and we had to call a tow truck, another car got into an accident, and the third car got rammed by another car on the highway. We thank God that no one was injured and we all reached home safely. Here are some photos from this trip:

2) Right after the trip, a part of our team—nine people, eight of whom were our church youth—went on a mission trip to Mongolia.

They held two children camps. The first camp was run in western Mongolia. About 100 children could attend the camp. The children were from several areas of the Zavkhan region. About 60 percent of the children were from unbelieving families who heard the Gospel for the first time. In this camp, 70 children prayed a prayer of repentance. Going forward, a local missionary will continue ministering to these children.

The second camp was held in the west of Mongolia . This camp became special in the way that we saw God’s guidance! In that region, there are no churches, there is not a single believer in Jesus Christ and there have never been any children’s camps there. In this region all people follow Buddhism.

We planned to hold the camp in another village, but on the day when we got to the camp, things had to be rearranged and we held the camp in the place where we could. In total, we had 100 to 120 children who could come to the camp, with the number of children varying every day. In this camp, as well, all the children were from unbelieving homes, and they heard about God as the Creator, about men sinning against God and about Jesus Christ and His Gospel for the first time.

We do not know how many repented, as in this camp the children prayed for the first time. After our camp, brother Chimde stayed with his family in the village and is going to continue communicating with children, and plant a new church there.

An interesting fact about the second camp. A few years ago, a team from another city planned to hold a camp there, but the locals came up on horseback and did not let them run the camp. But this year, the Lord has disposed the hearts of the locals and they let their children come to our camp without any hindrances.

Please, pray for the children who repented in these two camps, who heard the truth about Jesus Christ, for the seed sown in their hearts to be grown by God. Please, also pray for brother Chimde and his family who remained behind and for planting a church there.

Here are a few testimonies of children who visited the camp:

This is a girl named Erusup. She had never been to Christians camps and has never heard of Jesus Christ. In this camp, she heard the Gospel. She loved being the camp, and especially the Bible lessons. We do not know how her life will turn out further, but by God’s grace, we were able to sow the seed of God’s Word in her heart.

This is Nadir, who also has been to a Christian camp for the first time. According to Nadir, in the camp, she learned about Jesus Christ, that He is gracious and that He died and rose again. She considered for herself that she would not act badly, as she wanted to do good. In this camp, she prayed a prayer of repentance.

This girl’s name is Baertlán. It was also the first time that she had been to such a camp, but she had heard about Jesus Christ from her grandmother before. In the camp, she got to know about Jesus more. She liked it in the camp very much. She was glad to make new acquaintances. She liked the camp program and is also thankful for the food the campers were treated to

This is our camp team, who led sports games, taught children to create crafts, and conveyed the truths from the Bible to the children. For us, as the church, these trips are very important. After all, there, in the missionary field, young people get to know God better. They truly see that our Living God is at work!

Three sisters who were a part of the team, received water baptism this year. Through this trip, God worked in their hearts, too, We trust that God will continue working in the lives of these young followers of Christ!
