Editor’s Note: The following report, testimony, and images are provided by an SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine.

These days of unrest viewed through the eyes of a child can be overwhelming at best. No place to rest a tired heart, except in our Lord who is faithful and ministers through His people. You can see that clearly in the story of a little boy named Andrew.

In his ministry report below, SGA-supported Pastor Vasyl’ shares how Andrew was shown peace and love by local believers who distributed food packages provided through the generosity of friends like you. And so, too, are we comforted in Christ as He meets our seen and unseen needs. Here is more from Vasyl . . .

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters.

I am Vasyl’, pastor of a church in a village in [a Ukrainian] region. Since the beginning of the military invasion, our church has been serving people in our village and other neighboring locations. We have repeatedly received humanitarian and food aid from various missions or foundations and distributed it to people in our village who needed it most. These are large families, the elderly, the disabled and IDPs [internally displaced persons]. This time, we had the opportunity to receive food aid from CHF and help those in need with wonderful food packages.

Along with physical food, we try to tell people that man does not live by bread alone, but also by the Word of God. We have repeatedly held some evangelistic services at the local House of Culture, where many people gathered. We distribute New Testaments and other spiritual literature to people, hold conversations and meetings with them. We have regular services in our House of Prayer, and people come to us and listen to the Word of God. There are also those whose hearts the Lord touches. It’s such a joy to see them happy and thankful!

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has been involved in supporting and helping Ukraine, especially the churches and displaced people. Peace to you, your families, your country, and God’s blessing. People to whom we distribute food always ask us to send their gratitude to all those who sacrificially serve in this great tragedy that has come to Ukraine. We thank God for everything!

Sincerely,
Pastor Vasyl’

About a little boy named Andrew and his grandmother
Through The Eyes Of A Child Testimony

This little boy, Andrew, is from a large family that was forced to move from eastern Ukraine because of the war. However, when full-scale hostilities began near the city on February 24, 2022, his mother decided that they would not leave anywhere. Andrew thinks that the most frightening thing for him was the sound of enemy planes flying over the house. They had nowhere to hide. There were no well-equipped bomb shelters near their house.

When the family finally fled their village, the boy was anxious and very wary. At first, he refused to adjust to a new place, where they moved. But the caring attitude of the Christians and the opportunity to help them with food packages helped these children to communicate and become more and more open.

The Lord helps all of us to go through difficult times together with all the locals and IDPs. The families who have received the food aid packages from CHF are sincerely grateful for your endless love, care, and attention to them, dear friends. May God continue to walk beside us in this difficult time for Ukraine! Thank you all for your support!
