Earlier today, we heard the news about the terrible bomb attack in the historic Russian city of St. Petersburg. Authorities say the explosion took place on a St. Petersburg metro train at 2:30 PM local time, and that it is a probable terrorist attack. Thus far, 10 people have been reported killed, and dozens of people were injured.
Russia has been subject to many major terror attacks through the years—most of them have been connected to Islamic rebels from the country’s North Caucasus region. ISIS has claimed responsibility and police are searching for a man recorded on surveillance cameras who was thought to have been involved.
Our hearts go out to the families who have been impacted, and we are asking for urgent prayer on their behalf. Also please pray for the safety of SGA-sponsored missionary pastors and churches in the region. Above all, pray that Gospel opportunities will arise out of this tragedy, and that many will come to reconciliation with God through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you in advance.
