Churches Make A Disturbing Discovery In Ukraine

Now 18 months in to the war in Ukraine, the churches we serve have discovered a disturbing fact: An estimated 50,000 “social orphans” are neglected right where they live. It means that some parents have abandoned their sons and daughters in their homes.

Children are not receiving regular meals and clean drinking water. Single mothers are struggling to provide for their children, and fathers have either left to defend their country . . . or have left altogether with no plans to return.

The churches SGA serves are finding “social orphans” everywhere—as they conduct home visits with humanitarian aid or even on the streets in their communities. Orphans who have “aged out” of traditional orphanages at age 17 are also not prepared to take care of themselves and are struggling to survive.

Please pray that God’s people will be strengthened and provided with the urgently-needed resources to minister to the rising number of “social orphans” in Ukraine. May He equip the SGA-supported churches to be the hands and feet of Jesus so that these hurting girls, boys and teens may know the God’s perfect love.

In a time of great uncertainty, God is bringing help, healing, and hope to the people of Ukraine through SGA-supported pastors, churches, a seminary, and SGA-sponsored Compassion Ministry. Be a part of God’s incredible work with your generosity and prayer support.

Your gift of compassion helps struggling people with emergency aid that generally includes Scripture materials, food, medicine, warm clothing, and shoes.
