Editor’s Note: An SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine provides the following testimonies.

As the days are colder and winter is here, once again many people in Ukraine are wondering how they will survive the brutal and bitter coldness of war. Not only in the outside temperatures, but also internally within their hearts. The children are especially being impacted.

Thankfully, through SGA-supported Operation Winter Warmth ministries, suffering people, both young and old, can be warmed both inside and out. Churches have become a safe place for the many looking for that warmth. As they are wrapped in coats and blankets, and protected with boots, hats and gloves, their hearts are also being warmed with the truth of the Gospel. When our hearts turn bitter towards the hardships around us, it is the Lord Jesus Christ who brings the comfort of peace, hope, and joy, even in the midst of trials.

Please pray that as these cold days come upon the people of Ukraine, the Gospel will light a fire within their hearts, so that many may come to know Him. Especially the children.

Greetings, brothers, and sisters! Thank you so much for your prayers! We would like to express our immense gratitude to God and to you for the resources through which we can work together to enlighten and warm Ukraine’s people with the Gospel during the darkness and cold that the war has brought us!

I would like to share with you some testimonies from our trip to visit the children in [a village near] the Chernobyl zone. Before the cold weather and power outages arrived, the Lord blessed us to share the Gospel with the children and provide them with winter clothes (by the way, I am now in a hurry to finish this letter before the power goes out)!

This is a picture of Vlada, who is five years old. Vlada’s father left the family when Vlada was a baby, and they are now internally displaced people. Galya and her daughter Vlada fled the war in the Donetsk region for [this] region. However, as it turned out, there is no escape from the war in our country. Recently on November 17, [the invaders] once again launched 210 missiles and drones on the territory of Ukraine. Despite this, thanks to the care and support of the church, including the provision of warm clothing, Galya and Vlada have found peace and safety in the Lord’s church. Please pray for this refugee family that the Lord will be their refuge.

These photos display children from the same family who are half-orphans: Lera, 15 years old, Maxim, 8 years old, and Artyom, 12 years old. Sadly, their mother has a drinking problem, and the children are often neglected. The church has become a place where the children can warm not only their bodies, but also their hearts with the love of Christ. Lera, Maxim, and Artyom told their teachers and classmates that the church had given them warm shoes. This was a great testimony for the entire school. Please ask for God’s blessing on these children so that He may become their Heavenly Father.
