I am glad to share with you the latest news of our ministry in Ukraine, and particularly this historic event!
On Sunday September 17, Ukraine saw an amazing unity of Christian churches and ordinary Ukrainians coming together for our country’s First Thanksgiving Day in central Kiev. Approximately 200,000 people gathered to express their gratitude to God, and to lift up prayers for Ukraine during the evening program at Khreshchatyk Street near Maidan (Kiev’s Central Square). The event was broadcast in nine countries. The last time the streets of Kiev saw crowds like this was when people gathered to protest during the Revolution.
Throughout the day, there were play zones for children, recreation areas, fairs, exhibitions, various presentations, and musical performances on the main street. International guests, politicians, famous stars, and religious leaders participated in the main Thanksgiving concert, which featured the testimony of the internationally known evangelist Nick Vujicic.
Despite the fact that Nick was born without legs and arms, he became a successful writer, businessman, and speaker. Many Ukrainians with disabilities, orphans, as well as war veterans from eastern Ukraine, attended the event. Several thousand people have committed their lives to the Lord Jesus. This historic celebration was made possible by Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko signing a decree that called for a national celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Our God is a big God and He does amazing things! We are so thankful that He is leading Ukraine through Reformation to Revival.
