Even as snow has begun to fall for us here, the cold is also coming to war torn Ukraine. Many look to a bleak winter with much of the electrical grid destroyed and under daily assault. Yet there is hope. Local churches are aware of the needs of impoverished families and reach out to them with heat, and with hope.
SGA provided funds have been supplied to the Zaporozhe region, where local churches have begun purchasing firewood for families with no heat. These families see the tangible gift of heat, but also hear of the lifesaving message of the Gospel, the true gift of lasting hope.
One family received wood today and shared…
“We are displaced because our house was destroyed. Currently, we live on a dacha plot. In winter, we are heated with briquettes, flights, or small firewood, as we have a small bourzhuika* for heating. My heartfelt thanks to SGA, in providing us with financial assistance in the amount of 7 thousand hryvnias for the purchase of briquettes and firewood. It was a timely and very necessary help, because the state refused us in social assistance. We were given briquettes for the winter period.”
