These Faithful Servants Pour Out Their Lives For The Sake Of The Gospel 1

Eric Mock, vice president of ministry operations at SGA, recently visited a small church plant in Ukraine that now ministers to refugees every single week. When he arrived, he discovered he was already an answer to prayer! A minister had been praying that he would preach when he arrived, which he was able to do. As Eric reports, “Yura follows my travels on Facebook, and almost all of them commented of people in churches in Ukraine they know who have been blessed by aid from SGA.” As you read Eric’s report below, it is a beautiful reminder that the faithfulness of a little church can do mighty things for God.

Hello my friends,

My flight to Ukraine landed about 35 minutes early, and I was able to move quickly through customs and meet up with Pastor Oleg, and Pastor Yura and his wife, Luda. As I walked up, Oleg asked me, “Are you able to preach?.”  It turns out that the church service starts at 6pm, and Luda was praying and convinced that I would preach during the service. That strong tail wind was a just a little evidence of God responding to her prayers! For Luda, life has been tough, but God has been present in the midst of her trials. She was told she had three months to live, but it’s been more than a year since that moment and God has preserved her life. After more than 18 chemo treatments, she is still on this earth and serving side by side with her husband. Praise God!

When I arrived, we walked into the back of the small church plant that Yura and Luda have started. There are now about 15 people of which most are Ukrainian and 80% are refugees. Yura follows my travels on Facebook, and almost all of them commented of people in churches in Ukraine they know who have been blessed by aid from SGA. In fact, I was able to record one lady sharing about this and I am having it translated. Yura shared in Russian and the songs were in Ukrainian.  It was a joy to worship with them, and I did preach as Luda had prayed for.

These faithful servants pour out their lives for the sake of the Gospel, and by God’s grace we are a part of what God is doing here by serving them. Here are a couple of pictures and videos. This small little church is faithful witness to Jesus in Ukraine!

Grace,

Eric
