Here is a wonderful testimony of an older orphan named Gennady, who is now 27 years old and a father and husband. Gennady was minister to through SGA-supported outreaches in Central Asia—including Summer Bible Camps—at a very young age.

Transcript:

Dear friends,

I am glad to greet everyone, and I would like to tell a little bit about myself and share how the Lord found me in this world.

My name is Gennady, and I am 27 years old. When I was 7 years old, by the will of God, it happened so that I ended up in an orphanage where I was brought up for many years, and where I finished secondary school.

Of course, we were not told about God there and did not know God, and neither did I. Moreover, it was forbidden to talk about God there, but there were dedicated, zealous people, who would come to us on Sundays, spending time with us, giving lessons and telling us about God. We communicated, sang songs, and we always waited for them, and we always enjoyed being around them.

When summer came, we would go to the camp in the mountains. It was a children’s Christian camp and we spent a week there with other children, and children from other churches. We certainly liked it there. It was so much fun and very interesting there. We played, and we were accustomed to worship services. We learnt how to pray and were reading from the Word of God. We were hiking in the mountains there, were sunbathing and swimming. We were really enjoying that time. And when the week would come to an end, we were longing to come back. And upon returning to the city, the school started and we always remembered the time in the camp with thrill and joy. Time was passing, and the Holy Spirit was working in my heart, and I understood that I could not live without God. I decided to repent, to ask God for forgiveness.

In June 7, 2020 I received water baptism in the Almaty Golgotha church and became a part of its church community. Soon after that, the Lord gave me a family, my wife and a daughter, and recently our beautiful second girl was born! And for all that I am so grateful to God.

My desire or call to all those who carry out this ministry, who donates, who prays, who engages our souls through this ministry, so that you do not lose your heart, so that you are strengthened by the Word of God, and so that you will not leave your ministry.

Thanks to all of you, the cause of the Lord is advancing. The Word of God says: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”Amen.
