How faithful are you to worship our Living God? If it was against the law, would you gather for worship? If you know that the police would arrest you and haul away your children, would you still worship? These are difficult questions that test our faithfulness.
Consider the widespread destruction in eastern Ukraine in the midst of the ongoing war. The battle rages daily in Avdeevka. Most people have fled the destruction, but some 1,800 remain. The church building barely still stands. And the people still come. Daily bombardment, destruction of buildings and of human life has not deterred the churches, the faithful.
People gather for worship—some walking down roads with minefields on both sides, some walking through the rubble of the buildings around them, and all fueled by a desire to praise God for who He is and the hope of heaven through Jesus Christ. All else may be lost, but still they worship for the promise of heaven and the joy of heaven is worth more than life itself.
Please pause, watch the video of the destruction to and all around the church, look at the pictures, and consider what it means to be steadfast in faith and worship.
