This is the story of how God used one SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine to bless a Ukrainian woman at two times in her life — in her formative years as she was young in the faith and today in her time of urgent need. 

This woman grew up attending a Sunday school class at Pastor Peter’s church in a Ukrainian village when she was only 8 years old. And years later after marriage, she moved to Mariupol with her husband.  

When the war started, at first she couldn’t leave with her family. They were very afraid and didn’t want to die, so they cried out for God to be with them. Eventually, the woman and her husband had the opportunity to save their nine-year-old daughter. A neighbor was willing to drive the child out of the city and take her to a village where she would be safer.  

Not knowing if the neighbor would return to help — or if they would ever see their daughter again — the parents sent her child. Thankfully, the neighbor returned to take the woman and her husband and reunite them with their daughter. “If it were not for God, we would not have survived,” she now says. “We knew that God would not forsake us.”
