As they fled for their lives from a city where tens of thousands are now believed to have been killed, Ukrainian refugees may not have had time to take anything with them. Can you imagine how it must feel to have nothing except for the clothes on your back?

They are “devastated” and “despondent” as you will read in Pastor Andrei’s report below. But he and the SGA-supported churches he serves with are loving well the refugees who have flooded into their neighboring country. Will you pray for people like Valentina and other Ukrainians as they try to rebuild their shattered lives?

They lost everything: their houses, their apartments, their belongings. Many people left [their home in Ukraine] with nothing but their documents in their hands. For instance, Valentina, when she fled her burning house, only took her passport and mittens with her. But why did she have to wear mittens? It was already springtime outside.

People in such a state are devastated, despondent, and their lives are nearly destroyed. They have no idea what will happen next, how they will live in a new environment. Refugees are very pleased that we are visiting them and looking after them. They are a bit embarrassed when asked about their needs because they need pretty much everything! They need to build their household routine, to start their lives again. 

 Here and this time, we brought a great deal of things. There were dishes, kitchen appliances, a wide variety of foods, clothes, and undergarments – the new ones (some things can only be given away new). There were many hygiene products and household chemicals as well. There were diapers for children and adults, medication, footwear. It is probably impossible to count everything that someone, who has lost everything, needs. 

And there is hope! Our hearts are still filled with hope! And we will show love to all these people for the glory of God. We will answer their needs by showing them the Gospel in word and deed!
